Wallace Mountain, Kluane, Yukon, Canada

Today I thought I'd add another painting to this entry for variety ; ) I painted this when we were in the Yukon. A personal favourite! I am happy with it because after spending a day laboriously painting some mountains the day before, and having it look, well,...normal and ho-hum, I was able to just let go and feel the mountain. I always get a thrill when I can paint what I'm feeling instead of what I'm seeing, you know? I have posted this one on my blog sometime in the past year and a half, but it's been a while. Once in a while I like to show some of my larger art from my website.

Running around...

No time for painting today because I had to drive to Ayr to bring this painting to AyrSpace for the show International Women Celebrate! I can't wait till the weekend when I will meet in person some of the artists that until now I have only talked with through our blogs. I would like to list everyone here but because I don't have a hard list in front of me, I am afraid of omitting someone(!) I will wait till after the weekend when I do a post about the show.

Silver ink pot

A tough one for me. I thought I'd do a few paintings on materials in my studio. This ink pot proved a difficult structure to paint.

Monsters! (Ree and AGM (alien gingerbread man)

Well how can you not love these two? These are monsters made by my kids. Basically a one-day project. It included sketching, dying gauze in tea and learning to stitch on the fly. They are filled with lentils.

Submission for "Present and Accounted For"

These are the photos I sent to Karen Appleton for her blog Present and Accounted For. Karen had a cool idea of a gift exchange project. She sent out these gift-wrapped boxes (empty and eager to see the world!) and asked in return that people photograph them and send the pictures back to her blog. Fun!  This present is sitting in front of a quincy (snow shelter) my husband and kids made and slept in this winter.  A week or so later we had another storm and the snow drifted into the entrance. It made a perfect spot to perch my little gift. We later shovelled out the drift and got to enjoy the shelter a week or so longer till it melted.

Ready for action - SOLD

Ran across an old box of pastels in my studio. The colours were bright, interesting and it was kind of thrilling! I know that sounds dweebish to many but I think it's one of the perks of the job (smile, contented sigh).
Note: this painting had been called: Creamy oil pastels. Could not think of an interesting title so I went for the obvious. I asked for snappier title suggestions and THANK YOU to Jill who came up with "Ready for Action" : )

Love - SOLD

I'm painting a series of these - three I think. I just really like the colour combination. The rose is full and open, the petals almost ready to drop. If you ever wonder why this blue figures so prominently in my paintings it's because my table is a thick pane of smooth frosted glass. Sometimes I lay down colour cards or cloths, but I love the table top on its own.

Out of the frying pan... - SOLD

into our mouths! Friday we made homemade donuts. My nephew, sister and I had always wanted to try it and we decided on two kinds: yeast (raised) and crullers. Pictured above are the yeast. We iced them with a vanilla glaze, maple glaze, and chocolate icing. *YUM* The crullers were equally delicious : ) Kelley and Susan, I was wishing you were here to taste test! : )

Chocolate love - SOLD

This is a piece of some DIVINE cake that one of my most favourite people made the other day : ) It is moist and dense with raspberry preserves and chocolate ganache filling. SO fantastic. It made everyone smile. That's the magic of really good food, yes? Thank you! xo

Promise of spring - SOLD

These are the flowers I used in my class last week - some tulips and roses. I worked with a palette knife for this one. I enjoy mixing it up. Speaking of spring, tomorrow we're supposed to get unseasonably warm temperatures and even showers. In February! A little unusual but I'll take it : )

After dinner smile

Technically I had a lot of fun painting this. More fun than yesterday's rose. Those petals and folds got a little crazy. In this one, the plastic wrap and translucence of the hard candy were just plain FUN : )
I'm not one for suckers or hard candy but my kids like getting them after a meal at a restaurant. And I must fess-up to enjoying the chocolates that a few restaurants bring instead of suckers or mints. I know one place that even brings a brownie. Hmm...I wish more would do that!

Desire - SOLD

I painted this today for the Daily Paintworks Challenge. It also fits nicely for the day! Unless of course you've had it up to *here* with all things Valentiney, then just pretend it's wilted and brown...lol.

Uh-oh - SOLD

It had to end like this, don't you think? : )

When I took bites out of all these candies, they were really tough after sitting unwrapped for a week. Yummy. But I have to tell you, I didn't think I liked these candies but they weren't half-bad! I feel the Allsorts love : )

Money origami

Once in a while I like to share some different art forms on my blog. This is one of those posts. Yesterday my nephew showed me his cool origami t-shirt and pants he had made. *THE BEST!* Love them. So I asked him if he'd make me an outfit. I've been showing them off to friends ; ) And in case you're wondering, the pants are made of one bill, and can be completely unfolded, bill intact. Thanks Trav!
